BA Second Class (Hons) Degree in Graphic Design Visual Communication
This course was primarily to complete my degree. I found the course pushed me to be more creative and think laterally. In turn I believe that this has greatly improved my design skills and has helped me to generate new innovative design solutions. Projects were designed to give as much creative freedom as possible which gave me the opportunity to really put a personal touch on some of my work to develop my own style of design.

Farnborough College of Technology 2003-2005 & 2001-2003

Foundation Degree in Graphics Design with Interactive New Media (merit)
This course was the first part to my completed degree and had a focus on Flash action scripting as well as the use of Dreamweaver as a main web building tool. I enjoyed learning about these applications and have continued to teach myself.

National Diploma in Graphic Design with Multimedia and Business Studies (merit)

This course was an introduction to design and taught me to have good attention to detail and developed my eye for design to what I feel is a good standard. The primarily subjects were Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark but I was also introduced to Dreamweaver. I also learnt effective ways to approach and plan for a brief using thumb nails sketches as well as research.

Work Experience:

Spectral Design & Print Limited May 2007 - to date

At Spectral I work as the sole in-house creative designer. I am responsible for ensuring that all creative projects that come through the company are designed and produced to the high standards that are expected. An important factor in my role is to make sure that the client is more then satisfied from the first meeting with me through to the completion of their project. The main bulk of the briefs I receive are for print based design such as, stationery, brochure, posters, signage and logos as well as other branded literature. I have also worked on websites ranging from a complete design to a complete build in Flash and Dreamweaver. Regular website maintenance and updates are also things that I am involved with. I also deal with all of the companies suppliers directly so have experience of quoting as well as ordering materials. In addition to the software side of my role, I run a HP large format machine and a solvent based large format printer for all of our in house jobs which I see right through to the finishing.

Greywell Press Limited September 2006 - May 2007

Working as a Creative Artworker my primary roles involved creating designs from customer specifications, and briefs through to pre-press checks on all artwork for all types of print production. In addition I operated the Digital printing department, and along with my colleague aided in the production of the vinyl print and vinyl cut department. A secondary role was learning the basics behind designing and then sign writing vehicles.

Thomson Directories Limited January 2005 - September 2006

Working as a Digital Advertisement Designer for the digital print department. This role involved using Photoshop & InDesign to create artwork for clients. I was part of a team 40 – 50 members strong and enjoyed the fast pace targeted environment in which I worked.

Camberley Signs September 2004 - January 2005

This was a six-month contract working as a Junior Designer to a team of three designers. My tasks involved preparing the presentation of work as well as taking on live briefs from clients and seeing them through to print. I enjoyed my roll in the team as I was able to get a general overview of how a professional design and print environment works.

Two weeks work experience with this design company. The attachment provided me with first hand experience of a studio whilst simultaneously developing my personal design skills.
